How do I know if I or someone I know needs Physical Therapy?
If two or more of the following questions are answered YES, you need
a Physical Therapy Evaluation.
- While walking around the house,
do you need to hold on to furniture or walls?
- Do you need
help standing from a chair/couch?
- Do you complain of pain
in your back, gluteal region (buttocks)?
- Do you lose your
balance when transfering (i.e. sit <-> stand) or walking?
you need help with Activities of Daily Living (i.e. eating, bathing, dressing, grooming)?
- Do you experience shortness of breath or have difficulty with breathing?
- Are you insecure or unsafe with mobility?
- Do you
feel that your legs give way (buckle) or feel that they are weak?
you had a recent surgery involving the musculoskeletal (i.e. joint replacement) or cardiovascular system?
- Do you have a neurological disorder (i.e. Parkinson's)?
If you determine, based on the above criteria, that you need a Physical Therapy
consult, ask your Physician to provide you with a prescription authorizing a Physical Therapist of your choice to evaluate
and treat your condition.
